    So my amp is toast....

What are my options. I have a 91 IX with premium sound. Can i just bypass the amp with the stock headunit, or do I need to upgrade to an aftermarket head unit?

    Thanks

LOOK at the sticky "Radio Wiring and Amp Bypass" for wireing.

And you may be able to use the stock unit. im not 100% positive

Which head unit do you have? I'd replace the amp before I'd replace the head unit.

I have the stock HU, no fader (http://www.webstore.com/thumbnail.ph...w=500&sq=Y&b=Y)

I guess my question really is, can the stock HU work w/o an amp and not sound like shit?

            Thanks,

A replacement factory amp, used, shouldn't cost more than $25-30.
The headunit won't work work without an amp... it's not strong enough.

Do you know how to access the amp in the car?

I know how to access it, any ideas on where i can find an amp for cheap? I cant seem to find one for less than 50-60. At that price, i might as well spend 100 on a new head unit, bypass the amp, and get ipod/bluetooth, right?

If you can check the PN/Model number on the amp, I can see if I have an extra in storage.

But yes, for close to $100 you can get a modern headunit and just splice a few wires and be done.
That might be the way I'd go if you were already considering it.

RealOEM says that it's 65121375983. If I have time tomorrow ill pull the amp and double check it.

I would check the local scrap yard. Should be able to get one cheap at a U-pull-it.
