And once again my theory that you cannot test a fuse with your eyeballs holds true.
Use a goddamn test light to test fuses! Then, you KNOW you have power at the fuse.
dome & trunk lights and tach all stopped working at the same time!

I did not mention that i had checked the fuses too and they were all good.
BUT I went ahead and replaced it. Bam! fixed it. Maybe it was a bad fuse?Leave a comment:

OK, Greg, go to page 0670-10 of the '89 325 ETM.
You will see from the diagram that fuse 21 runs: domelights, check control, radio, cluster, flashlight, chime module and the trunk light.
A common short is where the domelight wires run up the left side of the car, near the rear seat. Check the flashlight socket too, see if there is something metal stuck in there.Leave a comment:

I'll start hunting there. I forgot to mention the deck stopped powering up too.Leave a comment:

^Yes. Sometimes the metal pieces of the trunk light touch the trunk itself and can cause the fuse to short out. Happen to me.Leave a comment:

The dome lights and tach and trunk light as well as radio and power antenna and obc are all on the same fuse. Fuse 7 i think. I had this problem a little while back. Turned out to be an issue with my trunk lights. Somewhere in the trunk lid itself. I ended up clipping the wire right before the trunk and my problem went away.Leave a comment:

dome & trunk lights and tach all stopped working at the same time!
3 weeks back, my dome &trunk lights along with my tach all stopped working at the same time. No warning, just stopped.
I was having issues with intermittent power to the ecu and just ended up running a direct power wire to the relay (according to the wiring diagram it is non fused power) and that solved the problem.
I am wondering if the power for the domes and tach run together at some point or if the go through the bus block and that might actually be the cause of the issues. Just trying to narrow down my places to start looking.Tags: None
