Aftermarket Car Alarm recommendations

I'm building a '88 325 vert and I need to install an alarm system.

I never purchased a aftermarket alarm before so I dont know what to look for. I'm currently living in Costa Rica so I dont have a Best Buy or a highend car audio place here. I found a couple of simple/cheap alarms here but I want something better.

I was thinking of ordering Viper 5904 or its too much?

What are your recommendations?

Do you need a starter as well? If not then it's probably overkill. I would look into a simple starter and do a prox sensor for the convertible.

Maybe look into a Viper Responder 350 and Invisibeam Field Disturbance Sensor (508D).
