    Bluetooth and Nav

So I got a little technology envy when my wife got a new VW TDI with the Nav and bluetooth. Was wondering if anyone has a head unit that does the same thing as all these modern cars.

I think the pop up screen would clear mine, but you're right the few I've seen look pretty crappy. I was hoping there was a nice looking one out there.

There was going to be a Parrot android one... it looks VERY out of place in an E30, but it IS DIN and it does what you want of it.
Edit: and it's out and it apparently sucks. Never mind.

I have a Pioneer AVIC F500BT. Runs on Windows CE and is pretty hackable.

There really isn't anything like it on the market these days.

I made my own external GPS antenna adapter and my own mic adapter and did a permanent install using a modified ashtray mount, ABS, bondo, rattle can texture and paint.

Most non "car people" think it came like that, or that I cut into the center console. Neither is true!

It ain't perfect, but it did work pretty well.

Oh: I paid $200 for the first one, which I killed through stupidity and got the second for $100. I see they are now asking $600 or so again.

That's the way to do it.

Mine had a screen there also back in the day but it was for a car'puter.

I got my AVIC for free, so of course I had to install it. The bluetooth is outdated and won't let me speak using my G'ZOne Commando through the mic when receiving calls...sucks.
