Yep, I'm working as an intern engineer in Panasonic's speaker department in Knoxville, TN. The plant works nearly entirely with OEM setups (everything from shitty paper cone GM stuff to 5.1 systems in Lexus). Apparently, they don't mind what I do as long as it furthurs my knowledge (when I was getting the tour, two of the interns were in the woodshop building a box). It sounds like they also don't mind 'borrowing' (without returning) speakers.
Pansonic doesn't venture too far into the aftermarket speaker setups, but from what I saw, they are very proud of a 12" low profile, low distortion speaker developed (I looked around and they also make component systems). Heres to me not spending all of my money on sound systems when I start! Oh yeah, I also get discounts on Panasonic electronics as a whole (Plasma... emmm).
