Hey guys,
I'm a really new member to the e30 family, as well as a young car owner. I'm 6 months away from my 16th birthday, which probably comes to you as no surprise, seeing that my question is about updating the stereo in my car.
I have an 1991 318is with the "premium" BMW stereo in it (it appears to be aftermarket but could be stock). It gives okay sound, but it has very little bass, and doesn't produce the kind of quality I could hope for. I have a friend who has an e30, and got a stereo installed (I am unaware of the brand, but the speakers both look a little bit like subwoofers) that produces great quality, and heavy but not overwhelming bass. My questions are as follows:
1) Would you recommend a new stereo? And if so, could I just go to a CarToys or somewhere and have it installed, or is there some adjustment I could make, or some sort of rewiring or replacement, to make them better? And if so, where would you recommend doing this?
2) If I should get a new stereo, what kind of stereo should I get that would fit? Price is not my #1 concern, as I would be willing to pay good money to get a good, high quality stereo.
3) Would you recommend putting a subwoofer in with the speakers?
If I should post pictures or anything like that, let me know.
