I called you the other day Luke and you never hit me back.

Anyway, I have some stereo questions for you.

Also, can I get just the paper template and carpet for the "pretty panel" I see to have misplaced mine.

    what i have is
    Pioneer DEH-p7400HD
    RF prime R-152s front set
rear is pioneer 5 1/2 that are filler at the moment in the rear
    no amp for speakers
sub is http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...s-HFX12D4.html pretty good for how cheap it is :p
    and amp i mentioned earlier
Wow, that is the same as the Exile amps I had in my van, same ones that were in my E30 when I killed it. I gotta say I am not a huge fan of it, but it is a fuckton of power.

If you want to use it long term, I don't blame you at all. You would need to find yourself a HFI 55.4 or HFI 100.4, a set of components for the front and pick a woofer. If you stay 10", you will smoke a woofer occasionally, even if you use a 2 ohm load, it makes a LOT of power.

If we can find you a dual 2 ohm woofer with a 3" voice coil that fits the box, the thing would be stupid loud, seriously nuts. These boxes get pretty damn loud on 350 watts with a $60 woofer, if you could find the elusive "right" dual 2 ohm 10", you could have one hell of a system!

If you must go Fosgate, I HIGHLY recommend you choose carefully on your amp(s). The Status or Prime series do not offer appropriate high pass settings for the E30, while the Punch series do.

If you did the Prime 5 channel, the R600-5, make sure you get a deck that has variable high pass filters, ideally Kenwood.

The woofer choices with that amp would be the Prime R2D2-10, which will be stupid loud but pretty "boomy", and not the best choice in sound quality. The Fs is 34Hz, which is too high and the Qts is .47, which is too high.

The P2 and P3 (only thing that fits and is 2 ohms) may or may not fit, and will still have that "boomy" effect, but not as bad since the Fs is lower...but the Qts is even higher!

So, I understand you want Fosgate, but please consider another brand for your woofer. Their philosophy of "loud at all costs" makes an audiophile grade subwoofer kinda hard to produce. I know this ain't what you wanna hear, but my goal is to make sure what you get for a stereo IS what you wanna hear!

Keep me posted with what you are thinking, OK?

    Luke

If you like music, this is arguably the single best aftermarket addition to an E30. Superior build quality and glove-like fitment makes it worth every penny. Details of trunk tar removal are in my build thread.

    Christmas Special: E30 10" Lukebox $180

Guys, we are still digging ourselves out of the mess we are in, but we still want to get some better sound in your car. So, in honor of the season, we are offering our "famous" Lukebox, the "partially upholstered" E30 10" subwoofer enclosure for $180 plus shipping.

This kit includes a paper template to make your own "Pretty Panel" and enough carpet to cover the pretty panel.

The box requires you to remove your trunk tar if your car has it. If you have questions about this there are several threads here on R3V or feel free to PM me.

As far as what to expect, well, there are a few hundred of these out there. The guys who own these all seem to say the same thing: "this is the best sounding subwoofer I have ever heard in a car" or "holy crap, all that boom and I still have a trunk!" or "my car does not rattle AT ALL"...well, honestly enough, even as jaded as I am, I am still impressed every time I hear one.

Lots of woofers work really well. The efficiency of this design means you don't need a giant woofer or a huge amp to get plenty loud. 300 to 500 watts is recommended, and basically most woofers under $200 retail. A great choice is the Infinity Reference, it is available in SVC or DVC, the sound is wonderful. Big fat thunder with terrific detail was the goal, I think this nails it.

So, here (except for woofer and tape measure) is what you get:

We can estimate shipping pretty easily, or contact me or JustinB for an exact quote.

    Thanks!

    Luke
