    Replace non-premium with premiums

Can anyone tell me if I can easily replace my 4 non-premium front & rear speakers with some OE premium speakers?

In the rear I know I have to cut the shelf to get them to fit properly, but can I just connect the existing speaker wires to them?

In the front can I mount them and connect the existing wires as-is, or do I need to disable the crossover for the door tweets that I don't have?

    Thanks

Rear - yes, just plug in as the crossover for the rear premium speakers is part of the rear premium speakers.

Front - the crossover is part of the front/premium 5.25" midbass/midrange speaker, the premium tweeter wiring connects to this speaker and then goes to the tweeter.

But since I don't have the front tweeters, can I use the 5.25" without them?

Can I remove the crossover to make it a "full range" speaker?

Don't install oem premium 5.25 speakers upfront then w/o tweeters, and just install some good 5.25 2way coax speakers if you aren't willing to install tweeters..

The factory mids aren't made to reproduce highs....

The crossover is a coil that is attached to the speaker and wired after the terminal, in order to take it out you would have to disorder the coil and solder a new lead in its place. Jean is definitely right about them not being made to produce higher frequencies. They were designed and built as a dedicated mid bass driver. If you go with aftermarket coax's look for speakers with a tweeter that is pretty flat with the face of the driver, if you get one that is too far out the kick panel will bulge and possibly not go back on.

When adding premium speakers I can add the rears now and fronts later, Correct? Or vice versa.
