    Sirius S50

Anyone have the new Sirius S50? I just put mine in temporarily until I have it professionally installed soon. Howard Stern starts there on the 9th.

I wanna get the s50 too, but if I want to use the unit in the car and home, does that mean I have to get the home and car units? Can you use listen on a unused fm frequency? I wanna make my sirius unit as transferable as possible. did you get the $500 lifetime membership?

Holy fuck suck thats huge. I haven't messed with the satelite stuff since it first came out way back when and it was kinda reserved for truckers since it was fairly expensive. But even then they offered head units that were "XM ready". Wouldn't that save you the hassle of having to have a separate car unit?

        S50

I got the home and car unit and yes you can listen on an unused fm frequency. I plan on installing it directly into the aux in on my head unit. It looks a lot larger than it really is due to the camera angle. The nice thing about it is that you can record favorites, up to 50 hours and remove the top portion and listen to it anywhere. I did get the lifetime membership too. Also mounted new Dunlop SP5000's.

So the thing works as a ipod of sorts? Hows the reception and sound quality? Whats cost on a unit like that?

I have Sirius too. Kenwood gave me a box (2nd gen, I forget the model) and a lifetime subscription. I just don't use it. Been in my car 18 months, used about 3 hours. None of the channels do it for me, my musical taste just isn't popular enough. Sound is OK, about the same as 128K MP3. Not good enough to use in my home, not as good as XM, but adequate.

XM's programming can suck my sack. If they ask nice. ClearChannel BLOWS!

Here is my bitch about the whole "Lifetime" deal...it is not transferrable. If your hardware dies, you are out of luck.

that blows, IMHO. I would never have it if I had to pay for it.

On the other hand, most people don't have 2000+ CD's

The hard disk deal is sweet, though. I wish I had some little hard disk recorder that could bounce between the car, gym, wherever.

I have Minidisk, just love it...but not too easy to record on, labeling is a hassle...waaaaaah.

I am glad to hear people like this stuff. Sure makes selling it easier!

Holy shit for that price it can suck the twins as Luke so eloquently put it. I have a nasty habit of wearing out a CD before I change it so I dont really have much use for this. I do have 80GB of music that I need to look into making transferable.

You can transfer your lifetime 3 times and the S50 hooks up to pc for firmware upgrades.

Can the transfer occur between different people? For example if I buy the hardware and from someone who already has the lifetime?

Yes, I saw in the Sirius site that some people have done that. There is a 75 dollar transfer fee.

If so, that is new to me...must have been some other people whining about it.

Good to hear anyway though. For $75, you can have 5+ years of service, not to mention the $500 they charge for lifetime...or do they still?
