    5 Channel Amp Choices

I recently purchase an LTW 8" box and amp rack for my 86 325e (4-door) and got a JBL GTO804 8" sub to go in the box. I've been searching for a small 5 channel amp that will power the sub and premium audio speakers and fit the amp rack. I'm trying to spend less than $250 on the amp but would pay a little more to find the right fit.

The ones that are holding my interest are:

Alpine PDX5 - If I could find one close to my budget, this would be a nice choice. I'm open to purchasing used gear.

Alpine MRX-V70 - This will probably be the one I go with - specs seem adequate and I can find them new for around $250 on the Bay.

Precision Power P900.5 - I just came across this one recently, but I don't know much about Precision Power. Does anyone have any experience with these? Are they good units?

Kenwood Excelon XR-5S - I've seen these used for around $250.

Any other suggestions would be appreciated. BTW, I'll be running a CD43 head unit.

This question has been answered countless times recently, and is discussed at length in the sticky threads Luke wrote at the top of this forum.

I've read that entire thread and would buy the Planet Audio AC1800.5 in a minute if it fit on the amp rack I got. It happens to be too long.

I need an amp that is less than 15.25" at it's longest side.

I know it says "Noobie" under my name, but I've been reading, and searching; I'm only new to posting on this particular forum. The amps listed in my original post are the ones I'm interested in because I know they will fit my amp rack. I'm just checking to see if anyone has experience with either of them in a similar setup or if anyone can suggest a comparable amp that will fit the small amp rack.

Since no constraints on size were listed in your OP, I replied accordingly. Perhaps someone who has experience with one of those particular units will chime in.

Yeah, my bad for not specifying a size in my OP. It appears that the 8" LTW box and amp rack are not spoken about as much as the 10s and 12s. I assumed that people would know the size from mentioning which box and rack I purchased, but you know what they say about assuming.

Hopefully someone will chime in. Has anyone out there purchased the 8" LTW Box with the amp rack? If so, which amp did you use? What is your experience with said amp?

Im familiar with the JL XD700/5. I didn't include it in the list because because the price point is high. I'd certainly get one if I found one for less than $250.

                  Go to allcraigs.com
                  Search for it
And email the sellers asking of they will ship
I paid 210 for mine and 15 shipping
And it came with the box and manual and all
