as a person who has run 2x12" (1000W rms) in the back of a vert. and now having a luke box and butting through the bulkhead. hands down cut that bitch up and install a luke box.
with the windows+top down and blasting my music, if i play it a half hour i cant hear for 2 hours after departing the car.
the kicker 8" suck tho. if i was keeping the car id throw them out and get better quality.

Here is the thing: the system we build is a true "bandpass", it turns part of your car into the box itself.
Getting the bass into the cabin is the hard part. As Eric said above, a pair of 12's in the trunk is absolutely useless. You seriously cannot hear a pair of 12's with 1200 watts when you are on the freeway, can't hear them at all.
Let me make this clear: If you want solid bass SELL YOUR GODDAMN ROOFLESS CAR AND BUY A CAR WITH A ROOF!
Seriously. Get a different car. Quit wasting your time, sell that bitch and get a car with a roof.
As far as those who do want to stay "roofless" and have "basshead" performance (are you fucking nuts? Are you stupid? BUY A CAR WITH A ROOF!)...well, I would rip out the back seat and build a box that fills up the area where the seat was. I would do a whole new interior if that were my goal. Most of you would not even think about replacing the back seats with a subwoofer...but if you want big fat boom, that would be a great way to do it.
So, for those of you still reading, first: all of our new E30 Vert boxes fit much larger woofers. You can do big stuff like the SKAR or DD woofers, no worries.
Second: this is still the best bass I have ever heard in a car without a roof, period. Yes, I know its just a pair of 8's, but if you understand bandpass theory you will already know that the driver size does not matter, it only moves the air, the box itself is what you "hear".
So, please do keep in mind that all of everything is a compromise.
That being said, here is the crux: if you still want to be all cool having a topless car...well, fine, have at it.
If you want to rip out half of your interior and build a box there...again, go for it, I will be glad to help. Hell, drop off your car and a pile of cash and I will build it for you...figure $1200 in labor or so, its a big job to do to our standards.
If you want a pair of 12's in your trunk go for it...but don't look to me to help you with that, it is fucking stupid. I have no time to do stupid shit, nor will I build anything I already know sucks ass.
If you want bass in that car that you can hear on the freeway AND you demand to have a car with no roof AND you want it all in your trunk, there is nothing else that comes close.
Luke
PS: I would LOVE to find something better if you didn't catch that part. If you do find something better, something that isn't stupid, please post it so we can quit making these.

So hostile!!!!! I know fully well my vert will never thump as hard as a car with a roof. I have 2 tens in my trunk now, and you are so so right, can't hear shit! I saw your box install and really like the porting of the metal walls. That's what brought me to even consider 8s. It would just be nice to hear a setup before I buy it.Ridin' wit my top down and my jewelry on, Hey I'm just gittin' my hood on!
