New price on sweet PPI 5 channel (not related)

Guys, you know I keep my eye on deals that work in our systems, so here you go.

The PPI "Black Ice" series BK580.5

This has all of the useful features. Full crossovers (no bandpass, sorry full active fans), sub level controller, pretty nice looks an can accept up to 6V of input, so you CD43 guys can wire straight in, no adapters needed.

This will also be just fine getting only 4 input channels, it will combine them to make the subwoofer channel.

    Pretty sexy too!

Or, get one of our amp racks and the fans will take care of the heat...

I prefer to make money on BMWs...over $10K in the last 5 years from wrecks alone!

Love to have you come up, hell yes, check out our tiny dump of a house. We have a tiny spare bedroom with a big hunk of foam on the floor, BYOSB.

All we do is work, pretty much 24/7. A visitor makes for a nice break!

Great looking amp. Wish it made more power on the sub channel than 240w. Not enough for a sealed enclosure with beefy sub.

Oh and it says the input sensitivity is 0.2v-5v... still good, but not 6. Is that typo on sonic's part?

Interesting...seems the specs are not so impressive on paper, but the owners manual shows input as 6V: http://www.precisionpower.com/html-v...k-Ice-Amps.pdf

As far as the rest of it, yes. I do not like giant burly woofers nor giant amplifiers. Generally, the smaller stuff has better sound quality. It certainly weighs less!

The boxes I build are efficient enough that 240 watts is plenty for most people, and I would bet this PPI does way more, this is a burly amp. 80A of fuse does not make sense on 240+220 watts, thats like 30% bigger than needed.

If you know you need more power, like you want to break things in your car, get a pair of amps and not a 5 channel.

^ LOL easy Luke. ;) I am well aware of your usual stereo goals. I run one of your boxes remember? Using a small 200w RMS sony POS with a RE Audio 12 that only demands 150w RMS. Sounds amazing at those power numbers.

But in my other car I already have an Ascendant Audio Havoc 12 that demands ALOT of power in a sealed enclosure (which I already have built in it). Damn kids stole the head unit and amp rack last spring. Couldn't get the box/sub because it is bolted through the firewall. So... I was looking to shed the need for an extra amp and it's associated weight while sticking with the sealed enclosure and beefy sub.

Oh duh...sorry, I was at the GFs house and did not read carefully.

You should seee if you can get an old Memphis Belle, those are brutal power and cool looking IMO.

^A buddy recommended that as well. I'll see what I can come up with. Thanks for the suggestion... I seem to remember them being a very nice looking amp too as you mention.

Love my PPI amp. Old School 4800.2 4 Channels which I bridge two to run my microsub from JL holding 3 8w6"s with the two other channels taking care of the front stage. Too bad I just found out after 10 years one 8w6 is stuck dead...Not sure what to do..
