    Electrical Gremlin! (Turn Indicator)

    Hey R3V,

I need some help. I've been working on a dash swap over the past week, and things have been going well. The PO had a shitty alarm, so I tore that out, and the proceeded on taking the dash out too. Before I did, I made sure the wipers, turn indicators, windows, etc. worked. Fast forward a week and I'm buttoning everything up. For some reason my turn indicators won't work. The high beams work, and so do the hazards, as well as the windshield wiper stalk. Here is what I have done to troubleshoot...

Check Fuse and I've replaced the turn indicator stalk and relay from a donor car, but it still isn't working. Also I have Switched 12V power to it once the key is in the ignition.

Furthermore there is a little green light on my dash now that looks like this <o> it's to the left of center. It wasn't there before. I've searched around and I'm pretty much out of ideas, so where should I check next to fix this? Any help would be great.

Plug in your hazard switch , turn it on check if lights flash.
Check if you connected the ground terminal under steering column.
Take a test lamp and give it a ground, key on switched 12v+, check the connector that the turn stalk is plugged in, you should have a +12v there, and turning left and right the stalk what do you have? Tried your old relay? Maybe donor car got wet and rusty? If the relay has 12v+ and ground, you should hear it click.
Now as for PO having an alarm installed, you only removed the alarms harness yes, no wire chopping I assume. Sections 6313 - 6313/1 on the manuals show you the diagram that may help you out. GL

Thanks for the quick response. Hazards work and ground is on, so those aren't it. As far as the connector for the turn stalk, I have switched 12v going to it. With left and right I don't have a change in voltage at the stalk, it's only the one wire. I tried both relays with the new stalk, but neither one makes noise, and when I put a meter on it I'm not sure that it had power. As for chopping of the harness almost everything was spliced, but he had two bosh relays in a series that wernt. I cut it, but everything in the car still worked afterwards. I have a feeling the relay isn't getting power so I'm going to try to track it down tonight and see. Do you know what wires feed into the relay?

Looking at the diagram i see ... Green/Violet , Brown, Green/Yellow.Green/Violet should have the switched +15 . Green/Yellow then goes to the stalk with pos. current and when you turn left Blue/Red gets current, right---> Blue/Black gets it.

Just went through it all with a volt meter. Relay is fine. I opened it, and it was good there was continuity everywhere. Here is what I came up with by the stalk. I have +12 to the white and yellow stalk. No voltage to the green/yellow and green violet (which goes to the relay). All wires have continuity to the connector. So I suppose I don't have power from those two wires. Do you know there they originate so I can track it down. It looks like it just goes into a huge bundle in the firewall. I don't have a manual so I will try looking for one online. I appreciate the help.

Another Update. I ran an alternate 12v source to the relay and I can now turn on the indicators however they don't tick. Does anyone know where the Green/Violet and Green/Yellow wires go to from the turn indicator?

The both go to the hazard switch, that's why you should try another switch too.
