    Stereo setup - worth it?

I have 1991 318i with installed new Sony mid-grade cd deck, MTX 5 1/4 speakers in the rear shelf and up front I have premium bmw speakers with tweeters...all powered by the deck 50w channel (16w RMS)

I want to add amp and not sure if it would worth the trouble.. I'd like to get more bass and just richer sound in general.

    Worth it?

I already have MTX thunder 240 amp from a while back.

The gate is wide, but the path is narrow. That head unit is fine..... used as a preamp. Get a e3010 Luke box from the gentleman above and wire-up that amp. Seriously......you will not be able to achieve your goals of "more bass and just richer sound" without one.

I've got an alpine cde-135t and some rockford fosgate speakers. Sounds pretty good, wondering the same thing, plus lacking bass, but for a vert how much difference am I going to notice when I will be driving it with the top down most of the time.

                  Well it depends.

If you wanna have big stupid boom while you are parked somewhere so you can impress the girlies, whatever, that ain't my game.

If you want quality sound with nice clean deep bass you can hear on the freeway at 70MPH with the top down, shoot me a message.

The term worth is an oxymoron. If you really want good sound and you are on a tight budget the best thing that you can do in almost any car is to replace the speakers with quality units. You will spend under $200 bucks in an e30 now you will have room to grow, pick up a nice 5 channel amp and wire it up to that Sony deck tune it properly. Meaning with the volume knob on kill there will be little or no distortion. Once tuned think about buying a really good box. That would be the lukebox under $250 and a sub that Luke recommends likely a $50 obicon sub and you will have the best sounding system that money can buy in a e30. The key to car audio is to maximize imaging and reducing distortion for as little money as possible.

If you get a 10" sub, get a lukebox to go with it.
