    Sound Quality Help

    Hi all,

This defiantly isn't my typical forum category...

I picked up a 90 325is with intentions of building a spec e30 race car sometime next year, in the meantime I had a spare deck laying around as the stock head unit was burned out and inoperable.

The car had some funky pioneer disk changer rigged into the factory deck.

That said I'm a basic radio/aux in user - The deck laying around is a Sony Xplod CDX-MP70

I wired up the head unit tonight via all the helpful instructions - I will note that back at the amp my wires were not the same as some of the write ups noted - but every connection but 2 matched the tutorials for bypassing the factory amp.

So I'm all wrapped up and I turn the thing on to some rather crackled sound quality. They can hardly handle any bass or volume.

Keep in mind I have not heard the speakers at all on this car so I am unsure of the integrity of any of the components.

Are my speakers just shot? Could I have messed something up in my wiring? I did notice that the back of the deck gets very warm - like untouchable warm within 10-15 min of use.

Any advice? I don't really feel like dropping money in speakers that I am going to rip out at the end of the summer to turn it into a race car... If that's the case I'll probably just live with it.

First things first: power that deck up and test it with a spare speaker after you disconnect it from the cars speakers.
