Best pricesfor Alpine and overall any receivers...

I was looking for some websites to get some good prices on Alpine and Nakamichi receivers, but I've been having trouble looking around. Hopefully I can find the right one. Anyone have a website to look at? www.thezeb.com doesn't have Alpine stuff...so help a guy out!

I was looking at 6.5 component CDT Classics and hook it up to the tweeter pods found on premium BMW systems of the time. (Is it hard to hook it up to the old tweeter pods?), and would I need an amp of some sort? Pioneer? Infinty?

    www.carmedia1.com for the Alpine.
    www.audionmore.com for the CDT.

Or Carmedia has really good prices on a/d/s stuff. I'm assuming that you're looking for high end stuff since you're getting/have CDT.

You'd definitely want to get an amp asap. Check out both of those websites. Nakamichi actually makes a pretty good amp; as does Alpine. Or if you wanna go big check out a/d/s again.

I'm also wondering about removing the stock tweeters from the pods. I tried and it was a bitch to do it. I've got a pair of kick ass blaupunkt tweeters ($200/pr) that I want to put in there and match with my MB Quart 6.5" mids.

You might want to also check out eBay for some a/d/s stuff.

the ONLY online authorized dealer for alpine is crutchfield... so be careful you can get em cheaper but alpine wont honor the warranty

a/d/s stuff sound insanley good... a friend of mine had full a/d/s PX series in his car... but he also spent like 20k on the stereo

I think one of those sites, I don't have the time to poke around them right now, will actually give you a warranty that matches the manufacturers, which you wouldn't get because they're not an authorized dealer.

          http://www.ikesound.com or http://www.ike-sound.com

great place. great deals. (used to have free shipping, but maybe not anymore)

I ordered speakers and met with success, as when I ordered speaker wire. I recommend it.

So ADS amplifiers are what I should look at, or do you mean their speakers (which are big money)? I was getting 6.5" CDT Classic components for the front(and maybe 5.25 in the back later), the Alpine CDA-9815 (for it's amber lighting too) for a receiver, and an amp that could power that. How much power would I need in the amplifier?

And also, newbie question, what exactly are mids? Speakers? I have no idea...

Does the 9813 have the amber capability too? I thought it did when i went to see it at a shop?

I checked www.carmedia1.com, but it says the amber/green changing is only 9815 and up. So it says there, I may be wrong.

9815 (the one i have) does not change colors at all... it is blue all the time except when you go into the settings then it turns orange... but only while you make adjustments.. in normal mode its always blue...

a/d/s amp with CDT Classics would be sort of a waste in my opinion... a/d/s are top of the line... CDT Classics are not at that level and there are plenty of good quality amps out there without the premium price of the a/d/s amps... that said you can find deals on some of the older a/d/s powerplates (been an a/d/s fan for a LONG LONG time)

Definitely a good idea to check out the older a/d/s power plates! I have an old PQ10.2, 40x4 rms @ 4ohms. And since you'll have components they'll come with crossovers (the old powerplates don't have any built in.) Check out ebay for those.

'mids' is short for "midrange" which refers to speakers which play usually between 150Hz and 1kHz. Usually 4" to 6.5".

The CDT classiscs are OK, but for $200 you could do better.

a/d/s 5.25" Components for $199 including shipping. Very high quality pair.

                        Specs from a/d/s/ website:

As far as amps, I'd still look for an a/d/s powerplate series. Get one that's at least 40x4 rms @ 4 ohms (even though your cd deck may claim 45x4 or something rediculous like that, it'll only put out about 17 or so RMS).

Also, check ebay for a phoenix gold M44. They're extremely underrated at 50x4 (for competition purposes). The M44 is a beast of a 4-channel amp.

i had an m25 and an m44 in the corrado back in the day and OMG those amps SLAMMED like you wouldn't belive... the PG m series are one of my personal favs... long since discontinued... and funky hookups but they are very underrated and sound great... (mine where stolen =( )

lets just leave it at that little m25 running 3x10W0 hit 143.5db

Holy shit! I didn't know that those M25s were that powerful! I used to have an M50 running a set of component mids. It rocked them!

There is an M44 on ebay right now:

It looks like it's in really good shape. My old M50 had some chips out of the paint (I was going to have PG actually repaint it... the said they could, but I sold it before). That M44 is a beastly amp... probably like 18" long or so. Each channel is 1 ohm stable! It would provide more than enough power for anything that you want to run as far as mids.. and probably subs too.

One more thing though, bimmerphile says that you can fit 6.5" in the front kickers no problem. Anyone say otherwise?
