    clifford alarm delete questions

The previous owner had a clifford alarm installed that has never worked. wires and other crap are always hanging down and touching my legs because they did such a half assed install. I want to just get it out from under my dash so I can access things more easily. Are alarms like this normally connected to other electrical systems in the car? Or can I just cut the whole unit out?

    Thanks,

    Ryan

I just removed one myself. Take it slow and resplice as you go. DO NOT start ripping. Follow each wire from the box and cut out and mend. There should be a relay that interupts the starter. Make sure you fix that.

OK. thanks when they installed the alarm they just made a complete mess of all the wires under the dash. Lets hope I can tidy it up a bit. Thanks!

good advice, do one wire at a time. It may be connected to door locks, parking lights, etc. I used to put these in, and often times people use scotch locks to do a quick install, so most are easy to remove. Post pics if questions come up

Depending on the model of alarm and how it was installed, you may have to re-splice your starter wire.

If you see a thicker black wire near the steering column that has been cut with new wires attached, that's the one.

Oh, BTW, if you wanna pay someone to do it for you, Andy is in PDX right now, he can do it for you. He worked with me in my shop for a couple years, he has unhacked many an E30.
