How does this Stereo Harness connect? Go figure?

I purchased an aftermarket stereo harness to go from my Sony deck into the factory BMW harness and the seller indicated that it should be a simple plug and play endeavor. Well How does one plug this (see firs pic)

    Into this? (see second pic)

Did I get sold the wrong harness and is there one for the 88 325 ic that I should get instead?

I want to preserve the factory wiring if possible.

    Thanks for information.

You have 2 choices...one is to preserve your factory wiring...which is dumb as fuck. Second is a rewire, just like we tell everyone else who posts the same dumb question. Nothing personal, man...just the same question over and over gets old

By the way, there is NO HARNESS for an E30...NONE. Never was, never will be.

Rewire. You are 2 hours from done.

Well thanks Luke for taking the time to reply. I would not catagorize my question as Dumb As Fuck, but more an uninformed one. It appears that you have little tolerance for those that are not as well informed with aftermarket stereo installations as you are. When one says that your question is Dumb as Fuck and then says nothing personal thats like kicking someone in the teeth and then saying can I help you rinse your mouth out.

A forum is a place to share ideas and ask questions that one has and your comments appear to indicate that you prefer not to share the knowledge that you have accumulated through your experiences and in the off chance that you do share your knowledge it is done so "be-grudgingly"

Since there are quite a few sellers out there with harnesses that they claim will allow one to plug into the stock harness I guess all of them are misleading the public? I was one of those that was mislead and now know better.

Is there some unwritten R3Vlimited forum rule that says - If you reply to a topic make sure your a dick about it?
I must have missed that in the FAQ's.

Oh , I retract my offer to help you with anything web related. Good luck.

OK, so I was being a dick. I am sorry. You didn't search, but that is no excuse for me being a dick. I had a rough day, but still no excuse for being a dick. Sorry. You asked my help in PM land too, which I discovered just after I sent that shitty message...oops.

Basically, you really do need to rewire. Let me explain like this...your deck wants to see 4, 4 ohm loads. Your wiring is not set up for that, the deck sees 2, 8 ohm loads if no amp, and 2, 100 ohm loads with the factory amp. Plus you add the loss of power through the fader AND the fact that only half of the power from your deck can be used...crappy deal all around.

Rewiring takes most people about 2 hours to do, start to finish. I usually run the rear wires to the left kickpanel, most e30's have rear speaker connections there. There is a place you can catch all 4 speaker wires in the dash, but between the sticky-from-hell-cloth tape and the gotta-pull-the-instrument panel hassles, it is quicker and easier to just run new wire, and neatly tuck the 20 year old factory crap away.

If you have the factory tweeter pods, the front speaker wiring can be a bit confusing...the crossover for the tweeter is built into the front midrange. If you look carefully at the speaker, you will see which 2 terminals are the inputs, which 2 are the outputs.

Oh, and just to be clear...I said that the option to preserve your factory wiring was "dumb as fuck"...which it is...but your question was valid. (still does not excuse my behavior, I really am sorry). That being said, that harness you bought is one of my industries highest profit margin items....Hmmm...wonder why you were told you "needed" it!

Thanks for taking some time to explain and also for realizing that I really did not warrant being throttled for no reason.
