Help me pick a head unit

I had an Eclipse CD 5442 that I sold a few years back thinking that I would never need it again. That HU was so expensive when I bought it new and was in perfect condition. Now I need a single din HU and I can't seem to find one or the guy I sold it to. There are a few things I like about the old unit and I'm going to just reach out here and ask for those in the know to lead me down the right path.

    Wants:
3 sets of pre outs definitely sub if only one can be had.
decent voltage output on the pre outs
station preset buttons (1-6) I don't see that much often anymore, used to be standard.
ability to change color. I'd like to match the old bmw redish/amber color.
A knob for volume, not buttons.
aux input via standard 3.5mm jack. no need for iphone connection. usb okay but from the rear would be best if at all.

Here's the fun part. The car is a driving restoration. I've wanted this car for 13 years and finally found one in decent shape. Wife, kids, work, and little time or money puts the build on a slow pace. If there is a HU that meets all of these needs that's relatively older and can be bought used, I'd be in good shape. I don't have to have todays best, yesterdays best still rocks my world.

That's about my era. Tape deck up front changer in the back. CD players that didn't skip were the coolest thing around. Then MP3 cd player. Looking for something within 2-5 years old.

Try one of the nakamichi units

Alpine kenwood pionner sold there soul to the devil ,
The Michi. Design is still plain And simple
With mp3 and other features you may need

Or if you can go one of the old units and
Use a fm modulater in the 12v socket

To listen to all your tunes

Sure there will be someone on here who has different views and hates

              Black face
              Orange display
              No chrome

              Simple

I like the Kenwood KDC200U, sold at walmart, I like the fact that is all black and background is red, it matches the E30 cluster lighting.

My requirements list matched yours. When I was looking for a HU, three sets of pre-outs was difficult to find on older equipment. I put a Clarion CZ702 in Klaus. Details in his build thread. The only thing I'd change is I'd prefer if it were flat black instead of piano black, and I wish the display were a little brighter. Although for the sound quality that system puts out, I can live with it.
