Door speakers in map pocket area question .

Does anybody make an adapter or something to put a 6.5 round speaker
where the map pocket is in the doors ?

I have seen a couple custom built ones , but was looking for a commercially
    available bolt on unit .

Nothing commercially available. German Audio Specialties is the only company that I know of that makes car audio stuff for E30s, and they only sell subwoofer boxes and crossovers.

Learn how to fiberglass safely... you could do so much more with that knowledge for further audio applications. That or pay some one $300-500 to do it.

It wont sound any better. there is a lot more air space than you think behind the stock location. you can cut the grills and install larger speakers on standoffs. and updating the tweeters realty helps too.
but in all reality, you cant have great audio in an e30 convertible.

Here is a setup that is similar to what i used
          Alpine-CDA105 $110

          Alpine-4-Channel F35 $190

          Alpine-mono $200

          Pioneer-TS-D1320C (front), TS-D1302R (rear) $86/ each pair

          JL Audio 8W3V3-4 8" Single 4-Ohm W3V3 Series Subwoofer $280

          Luke Box vert bot $200

          streetwires 5 meter
          Much wow
          I hate 4 doors

            Sorry Eric...gotta disagree.

I have 6.5s in the doors and they sound much better than 6.5s pointing at my ankles.

The staging is much improved when the mids are in the proximity of the tweets.

I can't understand why you think your set-up sounds crappy. I don't have nearly the investment, and am very impressed with the quality. Granted, there's quite a bit of pressure loss with the top down, but I've had a number of positive comments regarding the sound quality.

in comparison to an hardtop the vert's audio is really bad. it's just the lack of top and small area for speakers to be mounted.

my system was excellent for what it was. it just wasnt quite good enough and that's due to the design of the car.

I was thinking 6.5 component system in the door . keep the tweeter location and have the woofer in the map pocket area .

probably would have to cut some door material off behind the woofer for more
cubic inches of air flow , to create some enclosure area .

I am not looking for a super high quality sound system , I know I can't achieve
that in this car , too much road and wind noise . but I am sure I could build a
                system better than stock .

one of my tweeters has crapped out now, so anything would be better .

I have done fiberglass work before , mainly on my boats . This was
one of my options if I couldn't find a ready made part .

BTW, there is plenty of room right above the map pockets in 'verts, just double check room for window motor and door stop clearance.

I did some big-ass Polk MOMO 6.5's with just a 1/4" MDF spacer under the door skin, they fit great.

                    GL!

                      I did Polks as well.

Had to trim a tiny bit of sheetmetal for the location I chose, but didn't need a spacer.

how do they sound in the car ? I guess they are powered with an amp also in your car .
