    Radio Code Not Working

The other day my car battery completely died, engine didn't crank and no lights came one. Got the car jumped and the battery charged up to spec, car's running fine now.

Since losing power the stock bmw radio has been asking for the code. I've entered it correctly several times and nothing has happened. I've even disconnected the battery to reset it further and entered the code again to no avail.

Anyone have a fix for this?

    Thanks!

I know it says in my manual that if the code was entered incorrectly a certain number of times, the radio has to be on for an hour before it will accept the correct code. Even though that doesn't sound like this exact situation, I would give it a try.

About to take a 2.5 hour drive this evening so will give that a try then. Thanks!

Anyone else have any thoughts if that were to not work?

maybe the PO switched your decks. my dad has done that in his cars when the tape part dies.

It's a switched OEM deck, but the PO listed the code in the back of the manual when I purchased the vehicle. I've used this code before after doing disconnecting the battery for electrical work.

bummer. i havent encountered that being an issue yet for my cars. the only thing i could think of is drive the car for a while until it resets that 20min timer thing and then try again.

Thanks for the input. Definitely a weird bummer. Going to be trying the drive and reset thing this evening. The radio registers that I'm in putting a code because it gives a single 2 or 3 second beep after entering 5 digits regardless of what they are.

It seems to have eventually reset itself. Started it up the morning after going on a 2+ hour drive and it didn't even ask for the code. Gotta love 80's electronics!

                Thanks for the help mates!
