Amazing sound on 26 year old car

After putting back in a OEM radio, I'm amazed at the sound coming out of my 26 year old speakers and amp? in my 87 325i. It's great sound for something that age, that was essentially outside most of the time (I have a convertible so it's far from airtight).

Except for these scratches which may be do to the bad wiring job I did the first time around trying to put this radio back in.

You may have the Premium sound package, which makes a huge difference. My car had a stock system (with some sketchy speaker swaps) and I thought it sounded okay, but when I recently installed premium speakers I couldn't believe how much better it sounded.

Yeah, the Germans did NOT care about sound systems back then. They found them to be just about as necessary as A/C systems, which they were just about forced to work on by the time the E30 came out. You wanna know how important they thought it was? Try a 2002 with a dealer-installed A/C system or stock speakers.
