    Which Antenna Grommet is this?

I recently got a e36 vert antenna (same part number as the z3) and just waiting on the mini screw in antenna to come in the mail. In the mean time I also need to get a grommet. Seen a lot of people using the 318ti grommets but that would make the antenna stick strait up, I want mine at an angle. Anyone know what to use (maybe even the owner of this car chime in)

    Thank you!

I'm thinking it could be from a 1 series but I don't want to buy it and have it not work. Some input would really be awesome.

Maybe different model 1's have different antennae but theres a 1-series in my building that has the shark-fin type antenna on the roof

I signed up to the msuracing.com forum, posted the pic and told em some guys from r3v were interested in the antenna and asked if anybody recognized the car

i think it might be a 3rd party thing, the bottom part looks to me like it sits on top of/completely covers over the hole, rather than passing through it like our grommet or the e36 grommet does. i could be wrong about that though its hard to tell

Hey, I'm from MSU racing club. That's a members former car. I've emailed him to ask about it and I'll let you know in that thread and here. I think the antenna and grommet come from a z3.

I found this searching some of his old threads:

"if i remember correctly, the base is actually from some german automotive manufacturer's oem units. the antenna itself is a modified (shortened) version of the ones on honda s2000."

I think that's an amplified antenna with a stubby like this

Hmm, I wonder if he used the grommet from it and antenna or just the antenna mast and got a grommet elsewhere

                    He responded to MSU racing:
Yes, that's my former and very much so missed e30.

Nick's post is accurate, the antenna base is an OEM unit from the Honda S2000, with a generic stubby antenna.

Radio reception was good, but the seal on the base was not exactly best fitment against the e30's flat body panel. I ended up taking it off and replacing it with the more common Z3 antenna base conversion.

Let me know if you have any further questions on it.

Anytime, you're lucky you posted to msuracing. I still check in every few days, where as here I may have never come across this. Hope Kenji was helpful.

Thanks for getting to the bottom of this. If he did infact go to a z3 antenna ill just do that as well, even though that antenna he first used looked really good. Must have been a good reason to change.
