    Power Seats ??????

I have a pair of E36 power seats that are a 10 out of 10. I want to install them in my E30 vert. My question is , where can I draw power from for the seats? I am thinking of buying my brackets from Wedge Engineering. Are there any other recommendations for seat brackets? HMU talk or text 561-758-7218. Cheers......

Sounds awesome! If it all works out, post some photos of the finished product!

Would depends on the draw necessary for the motors. You've got plenty of areas to splice into up front or just run dedicated lines. I'd air on the safe side and run new lines and as to not burn anything else up, fused of course.

Use the factory "accessory" fuse box that is mounted on the side of the main fuse box. There is a fuse for constant power and one for switched. You want the constant power one.

I took 12v from the distribution block up in the engine bay near the engine harness grommet (battery tray area near firewall) Fused a 14ga. Wire and ran it back to each seat. 20amp fuse is more than enough. There's countless e36 to e30 seat bracket diys on here. I bought a set of robertk style.. you can make your own easily. The real trick is fitting the e36 rear seats... Mine went smooth with minor trimming. I also installed rear heated seat pads as well. Talk about luxury! Now in the rear my passengers have an armrest/cupholders, and toasty buns! With headrests... and e36 styling! Unmatched.

Thanks for the follow up. I have a vert. Not looking to do the rears. No body rides in the back seat. I look at my car as a 2 seater. No rear riders. Peroid. Lol. That being said, thanks for the wiring info..

              Cheers

Don't want to hijack this thread but since it's about seats, I have a pair of e28 m5 power seats, they look almost identical to e30 seats, but they are about 1 and 1/4 wider, framewise speaking. Does anyone here knows where to get prefab brackets? or a template of how to do it?

you can use the wiring for the heated seats, if the vert had them.

@ WOC. No problem. I don't get bitten by the "hijack my thread" bug. LoL. You got a question about modifying power seats to fit an E30, ask away. Maybe I can learn something from your question.

To continue. My MTech has heated seats. Is Cabriolet saying that the power supply to the E30 heat elements will work to power the E36 seats?

I would assume so. Heated seats take s lot of juice. Try finding an extra connector so you don't have to splice into the body side harness for that. Will be easier for install/removal and better if you sell.

Damn that's what's up. I'm in Florida. I don't use my heated seats. Never. I think sport package power leather seats is a better upgrade than E30 heated sport seats any day. I gotta try this power source. Stay tuned.

ya they are on a 20A fuse. wires are good enough to power your seats. all you need to do it short the wires that are in the center console, so that they are hot all the time. then the wires are already there at the bottoms of the seats to power your new seats. this should take 1/2 hour tops.
