Tweeters not working and wire identification (pics included)

    Hey Guys,

I bought and installed a new Pioneer head unit in my wifes E30 today. This was my first time doing a HU install so I took my time, referenced steroinstallers sticky and got it done. Everything worked first time around.

A few things that I was unsure about :

There were random wires. They had been clipped during the POs HU install.

My pioneer harness didn't have an antenna wire

Front tweeters have no sound (though I never realized they weren't working until now!)

    Previous HU install

    Unconnected wires

    These looked important

I believe this is antenna? I had no where to connect it.

If you guys have any feed back let me know!
I'd like to have the tweeters working if nothing else. School me.

    thanks

Nick, no worries, but I have a few questions. First, a year and model are always handy to post when asking anything technical, these cars have tiny changes every year, so it matters.

First, what do you mean your Pioneer has no antenna wire? If its new, it most certainly does. All Pioneer decks since the early 70's have power antenna wires...its just a blue or blue white wire. If its a used deck, the easy way is find a complete harness. It came with that wire, I promise.

Second, what are you doing with those aftermarket wires? Do you plan to yank that and go back to stock wire? Do you plan on adding an amp later?

Third, are you 100% certain that the stock midranges are still there and have not been replaced by aftermarket?

    Luke

The car: 1990 325i with Premium sound.

The plan: Nothing besides the Pioneer DEH-X6600BT head unit. Got it brand new. Upgraded for the features from an old Kenwood.

The harness had a blue wire but it was tapped off and labeled remote control something or other. No clue. Judging from your response - it was for the antenna...?

I havent confirmed what else has been replaced any where.

The same wire that is used to turn on a power antenna is also used as the remote wire to turn on an aftermarket amp. This is the wire you want to hook your antenna to.
