    Lights dim when subs hit

Slowly killing my car! Anyway, yeah.. the car dosent like it too much, and ive read up a little on car stereo capacitors but a friend of mine claims, ie dont harass me if wrong, that some capacitors can mess with the cars electronics, and not just the stereos electronics.

Im not too sure what i have, its a Kicker amp [400watt?] and two RF 10"s wired in series.

Brands, sizes, places to buy. Thanks for any info

May be more then just a cap. Could be a sign of battery going bad. Poor ground or many other issues. Check eveything twice then maybe go to a cap.

I have a huge PPI 6 channel and no dimming lights. new battery.

Thanks for the advice, but i had an issue with a dying battery just recently and went back through the system. Replaced the BMW battery with a 650CCA Ultima red top. Alternator is doing just fine, output of over 13.5volts, not sure of the amperage.

I don't like caps, but some people do, whatever.

Personally I'd get a good battery (which you have) with a stronger alt and large wiring.
I have 2 deep cycles (bluetops) with a 220A alt, and 0 gauge wiring. No cap, and never intend to have one.

EDIT: Also, I don't see how a small kicker amp running 2 subs (in series so I'm guessing the amp is seeing like 4ohms+) is drawing so much. It must be horribly inefficient. My RF 800a2 doesn't dim the lights that much, and that sucker can probly do 1000w+ given the right wiring.

The alternator could very well be on its way out. Problem may be finding a higher output alt for the car, as of no its a 90amp and the m42's are mounted a little differently then other bmw of the same era. I think ill recheck it, the charging system problem i had was a key off draw, nothing really to do with the acual charging of the battery and running of the car, so i could of over looked it.

Have you done the big 3 grounding upgrades yet? http://forum.sounddomain.com/ubb/ult...c;f=5;t=007801

Also what gauge wiring are you using? You should have the same gauge wiring for power and ground to the amp.
