    Ignition switch not working periodically

Some context, my e30 is a 3rd car that doesn't get driven often lately. We just had a huge snowstorm (for the PNW) and there is definitely moisture in the car. There was condensation on the plastic of the gauge panel.

The issue I'm having is that periodically when I try to start the car, nothing happens. When the key moves to accessory, no lights turn on and turning the key to on/start nothing happens at all. This isn't a case of low battery, I checked.

If I move the key from off to start a couple of times, then everything will work as expected.

I'm thinking potentially with the condensation there could be issues with the wiring to the ignition switch?

Additionally I have a keyless entry system installed (DEI alarm) and I'm thinking that the ignition lock on the alarm might be causing this? This wouldn't explain how by moving the key though fixes the problem. How does the ignition lock normally work, is the expected behavior what I'm experiencing around no power?

Before I start pulling things apart, any thoughts?

You have a bad ignition switch. Replace it.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.
