    Highbeam switch problems??

My brother's car is having a highbeam switch problem. The switch (lever) whatever you want to call it on the steering column is very loose. If he accelerates to hard, hits a bump ect. the highbeams will come on and then he ends up holding it for the rest of the time. Is this a broken lever, switch, or can we tighten it? If we can't tighten it right away is there some how to disconnect it until we get the thing fixed?

    Thanks for the help.

Pull the steering wheel and check the switch, if the screws are loose you can tighten them, but other than that, time for a new switch. Use loctite on the screws to keep them from backing out, although they shouldn't anyway.

I have to pull the steering wheel or can I just take the column cover off?

Well, unless yours is different than mine (no genetics jokes, please), the steering wheel has to come off to pull the column cover off.
