    OEM radio problems - 1986 325es

I hate the aftermarket radios (looks). My OEM radio is not clear and sort of crackles when the volume control is turned. Also, the led changes it brightness as I play with the volume control.

Is it likely the head is the problem? How often is the amplifier the problem with the e30?

    Thanks,
    Chuck

Chuck, most E30 amps die from water getting inside the from a leaky antenna grommet.

If you get crackly noises when turning the volume, your deck is bad (clean it first, use CRC) But there is no assurance that your amp isn't bad too.

I have looked and looked. In the trunk, near the power antenna........ nothing.

1986 325es. I have the small tweeters mounted on the doors, at the front.

      I am lost

Chuck, post a pic of the area just in front of the antenna, behind the big brace
