    Snapped Hirschmann Auto Antenna Mast

    Hey guys,

Had my rookie of the year moment last night when I (half asleep) drove into my garage without realizing that my bike was still atop my roof-rack.

Miraculously, somehow, the bike flew off, and only broke my antenna.

It bent (then I later snapped off the enitre mast).

Basically, the mast, and the cable which is attachted to the bottom of it, broke off from the antenna assembly itself. Motor still works and everything.

Now - the unit is a Hirschmann AUTA HIT 2040

It cost me something like $70 brand new via eBay several years ago.

Is it worth buying a replacement mast, or did I fucked it up beyond repair?

Would appreciate some R3v Halp right about MEOW.

    Thanks!

If memory serves, you can open the case and manually turn the drive gear to extract the mast pieces.

I'm just worried that by me pulling the mast/cable free of the motor externally, that i broke the mechanism... true?

I can sell you my used working unit for $85 shipped. Works perfectly, just polled it last weekend since I shaved my antenna hole and have no use for it anymore. PM me

Looks like the right one to me.

I'm just worried that by me pulling the mast/cable free of the motor externally, that i broke the mechanism... true?
Probably not, the drive mechanism is made to slip when the mast comes to the fully retracted or fully extended positions. You could always remove the cover, remove some of the broken metal part of the mast and stick the plastic cable part into the motor and see if it engages. Apply ground to the short braided wire and +12V to one (I forget which one) of the contacts in the plug to make the motor pull in the cable, apply +12V to both contacts to push the cable out (or visa-versa).

WELP. Replaced with the OEM mast from Blaupunkt. Problems.

It doesnt go all the way down when retracted. Sometimes it'll stop 1" above, sometimes 4" above.

What could I have done wrong? I tried taking the cable out and in several times and shoving it back down, no good....

                    whats up?

make sure you feed the cable correctly, or perhaps in needs lube ;). my new one (6month old) is starting to do that, noticed the grease is falling out.
