    My head unit fell out

I know this is beyond a retarded question, but I've been looking at things online and just trying to figure it out myself for the past few day but I've had no luck.

A couple days ago I had my aux cord in my hand and the other end was plugged into the head unit. I turned my steering wheel and the head unit slid out on the right side. I'd try pushing it back in but it would fall right back out. When I got home I took it all the way out to try and get it back in and staying in place, but now the whole thing keeps falling out. Still plays music, but it's extremely irritating.

Any help would be much appreciated!

How about a pic of the carnage? Is there a "sleeve" in place? The Sony requires one, it came with one when new the sleeve or "cage" has tabs that fold out to mount it in the dash, and has tabs that hold the deck in.

Post a pic, we will help you fix it.

Yup, on the sides you can slip "keys" in and pull the deck out of the metal cage. Then put the cage in, bend the tabs so the cage won't fall out, then slide the deck into the cage.

The keys will look something like this:

Basically just some thin strips of metal. Slide one down each side and it should pull out.

What is the deck and what is the cage?

Slide your deck out, you will see there is a sleeve of metal around on it, that is the sleeve or "cage".

The metal cage is the metal cage around the outside of the plastic in your picture. The deck is everything inside that. Also called a head unit or CD player.

I removed the aftermarket radio that came with my car by sliding two butter knives between the head and the cage, one on either side. Worked perfectly.
