What is a good skip-free head unit?

My suspension in extremly stiff these days. I cant listen to a whole song without a couple skips.

I have a high-end ish JVC chameleon right now and it is driving me nuts.

Any suggestions? preferrably one that matches the dash lights.

    Price Range

What kind of price range are you dealing with? When buying a Head Unit in my opinion price range is the bigest thing that limits what you can buy. As for skipping all decks that I have ever dealt with I have had no problems with skipping. (PIONEER).

Once we get a price range you could find something pretty nice on ebay :).

200 isn't going to get you much of a highend deck, well maybe on ebay.

I got my DXZ845MC for $200 shipped to my door. Not sure if SoundDomain still has the deal.

                    Doesn't skip AT ALL either.

Buy one with a read ahead, Forgot the term but it's already read 8 seconds ahead of the music thats playing. Mp3 is that way too?

I believe the term you're looking for is 'buffer'.

For some reason, buffers are very rare. I have never understood why the portables all seem to have a buffer, but in car it is so rare. LOTS of salesmen will tell you that Sony has a buffer: Sony says no. Same goes for Alpine. Panasonic did, the "G" series, meant for offroad vehicles. No more.

I want to try the JVC that has an SD slot in the front. My Kenwoods generally do well in the tracking department, but poor match in the E30 dash.

Personally, I am gonna go with a "Business Class" BMW deck.
