that is my point, proper placement will alleviate the need for attenuation. attenuation is like a band-aid. almost like the adage, "there's no replacement for displacement".
if done properly, the sound will hit your ear at the same time from all speakers giving the impression the source is coming from the front of the hood. like i said, i have done this several times. i am not just regurgitating something i read about, i have real life, actual, personal experience with this in my own personal real life cars that i drove everyday. that Jetta was sold so i could get my first BMW, the E39 wagon i DD now. my wagon has speakers in the stock location and i hear the drivers tweeter over all other speakers due to placement, it has the shortest distance to travel to get to me. i haven't done anything worth mentioning to it, yet.
i guess at this point if you don't believe me then lets just agree to disagree. even DWVW says the kick panels are the best place.
