I have tried regular tapes aswell and my player keeps clicking and cutting out whenever it does so

Mines was doing that about 2 months ago, I wouldn't waist the time and try and fix it or replace it because it will happen again. A Aux radio hack will not work because your radio won't play tapes continuously. Alternatives for aux are:

1. iSimple IS31 Antenna Bypass FM Modulator

Audio quality isn't as good as tape but its also not too bad for the price, Ill be selling mine soon because I'm going to the 2nd option

2. Aftermarket deck- I love quality and keeping stuff original but enough is enough, Ill be installing this with a new amp and a full set of speakers

looks like the rubber belt that drives the cassette deck broke. you can take it apart and replace just the cassette from another receiver. I wouldnt know where to get another rubber belt. Same thing happened to mine. I upgraded to cd43 and stopped using my cassette
