    Interest in rear deck sub

Hey kids, seems one of the best Pacific Rim speaker manufacturers is now making a really shallow 6X9 subwoofer.

I am thinking I could take one of these and make a tiny little sealed enclosure on top of the rear deck, replacing the entire rear deck, of course.

Anyone interested? I do not yet have a price on the driver. Parts Express is the US distributor, they have not yet heard of these.

I am thinking a rise of about 4 1/2" (off of the metal) just might be possible. That would make it about a 2" rise off of the surrounding area of my deck...a bitch to fab, gonna be expensive and not make huge boom, but for those who aren't willing to sacrifice trunk space of whatever...

Those Tang Bands are very good. I'm not familiar with the 6x9, but the 6" subwoofer they make is more than capable of shaking your face. The surround on the thing, along with the motor, are enormous. It doesn't hit super low, but you can't expect that from anything smaller than a 12" woofer.

These are the smaller sizes for reference:

Yeah....TB seems like good shit. I plan on trying some of their stuff...soon as I can get the dealer agreement dealt with.

I ran some plots on Blay Box...seems sealed is gonna be weak on the bottom, plus a HUGE rise in impedance anywhere below 50Hz...40 ohms isn't gonna get you much in output at 30Hz!

PartsExpress said they need a minimum of 300 pieces to special order. Uuuuh..no. I will let everyone know when they are regular stock, so I can get my grubby paws on one and try it.

Sure...have done a bunch of E30's with 2) 8's...in a box, though. My idea was to keep it entirely in the car...since the rear deck cannot be easily modified.

Some bonehead put trunk springs under it!
