When I try to lock my 88 325i sedan it is locking and automatically unlocking itself (ie like if a door is not shut).
At first I thought it was the drivers side door actuator because I could manually lock that door and the rest of the doors would work with keyless/trunk lock.
Now the passenger side doors don't lock randomly. I've done the red wire bypass, checked out the central locking unit and the relay that goes with it. Both are dry, no obvious signs of problems.
