i have always been an alpine whore in the past, but the features on this pioneer unit for only $150 are amazing.

nothing really comes close in its price range. 3 pre outs, yeah 2.2v isnt awesome but its pretty good. has a remote as well. much better than the typical sony/jvc/clarion/blaupunkt(ugh) crap in its pricerange.

i had a blaupunkt hamburg deck back in the day and hated it, what a piece of garbage.

The specks do look good, but I personally don't like the style of them right now, I used to have a couple of pioneer decks, but the style they have going now I don't like at all. I still might by one though, who knows.

I have installed 2 4800's, and 4 5800's. Get the 5800...fucking amazing deck. Style is poor for our cars, but what isn't?

MP3 and WMA playback menus are excellent, sound quality is great. Fairly low output voltage on RCA's, but if you combine this deck with an Audiocontrol 6XS, you are golden...

what all do i need to put a deck in an E30? there is someone selling an alpine 9856 with the sirius ($100) unit on local craigslist for $175 for both but it doesnt have any install stuff.

i am sure the wiring back there is mangled and there is no stock amp left so i will need to wire it all up. all i really need is +12v switched, power antenna, ground, and then wire up the RCA's to my amp of choice.

oh and i'm not a Pro like you are, but i did installs at a stereo shop one summer. i didnt have any "come-backs" unlike a couple of the older guys who would always hustle through stuff. i made $8/hr so there was no point in rushing anything, its not like i made more. just took my time and did a good job.

Sounds to me like you have it under control. IIRC, the Alpine Sirius uses buss power (AI-Net) to power the Sattelite bran, but either way it is very easy.

I drilled a hole in my roof for my Sirius antenna. I do NOT recommend anyone do that.
