    6.5's in kick panel

when people have put 6.5's in the kick panel did they need to move the hood release or does a 6.5 spaced out only 3/4" inch from the stock mounting point not interfere with it. i like how jordan did his but i'm going to mount mine on spacers and then cut the stock panel so my grilles poke neatly through.

Yes you need to move it with a 3/4 spacer.

I cut a ring out of MDF and sprayed it black.

You cut a ring out of MDF to bring the hood release lever out further?

Oh, I meant I used a ring for the speaker.

I grabbed longer screws for the hood release, then stacked a few nuts on the screws until it fit right.

Lately I just ripped the whole thing off, tucked the wire out of the way, and keep a screwdriver with me.

Humm, nice idea, might have to look into that. Is the sound difference a lot better?

yeah 6.5's are superior. much better midbass i fought w/ mine for a while before i got them to fit well. I mounted mine to 3/8 inch mdf type stuff and dynamated the kickpanel. the difference is huge. I then cut the kickpanel to fit over the exposed speaker.

I have some Crossfire 6.5" convertible seperates that I think would fit as stock with some minor metal trimming.
