Someone here did it, saw it a few months ago. I think he had an e34 alternator. Do a search, he had nice pictures too.

You are probably right, and hell an upgraded alternator is always nice. BUT, the wiring is 20 some years old too. Couldnt hurt to throw a meter directly across the alt output lug and case with the air ride on, see your voltage there. If it can hold 13-14v at the back lug, you need some cabling.-Dave

If your alternator is old, could be not outputting what it should. Add up all the amperage draws for everything and that will tell you if the alternator can handle it. You might just need a new stock alternator.Comment
