Got interference noise when turning on head lights

    Hey guys,

So I just recently installed a 5 channel amp and pioneer headunit and got it all working but now when I turn on the headlights I get interference noise. Any ideas what causes this? Is it because I connected the illumination wire to the appropriate wire on the headunit wire harness?

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

Sounds like improper or insufficient grounding to me.

Agreed. How is the amp grounded? Where is it grounded? Don't skimp on power and ground wire gauge and connectors.

Im running the Planet Audio AC1800.5 amplifier. Stereoinstaller1 aka Luke recently replied to a an earlier post by me saying I only need 4 gauge wire and used a wiring kit he suggested. I am grounded to the side wall in the trunk. Ill double check the ground and take some extra sand paper to the small region i scraped paint off to ensure its a clean metal ground.

Yeah, listen to Luke. 4 GA is just fine for an amplifier ground. I ended up grounding to the roof of my trunk, after hitting it with a dremel to brush down to bare metal.
