Stock radio...pulsing sound

    Stock radio...pulsing sound

    I pulled my car from storage today to clean it up and wash it, and when I turned the radio on, or the cassette, the sound pulsed. As in cuts in and out quickly, regardless of the car running or not, or the volume up high or low. If its ON, it pulses.

    Anyone had this issue?

      I think this is similar to my car. Mine makes like a heart beat noise. Mines caused by the head unit being damaged.

        Most likely a capacitor went bad in the stock amp

          Ok, I swapped in a good amp, and when I first turned the deck on it was pulsing again. I unplugged the battery and then replugged it back in and it worked.....for about half of one song, then no sound.
          Could the decks preamp be dead, and it's overloading the main amp and killing it?

          What could it be? Any ideas?

                no, but commonly, a pulsing noise is a bad amp, as that is what drives the speakers.

                In your case, it sounds like it is the deck pulsing, and I would guess you would like to know exactly what is broken...

                  Yeah, pretty much. Lol

                  I may finally ditch the cassette and install my blowchunks BMW cartridge deck instead, and it would be nice to know if the amp is shit or not.

                      Waiting for the adapter to come n from Germany, for the blowchunks cartridge deck.

                      I picked up two stock cassettes decks, but neither have the code, and I am having a harder time than expected getting the codes.

                      Anyone here have a hook up for codes?

                        Found an early two channel stock deck locally, and the local dealer gave me the code in 30 seconds.
                        Installed it after cleaning the volume pot with electrical contact cleaner, and all is well again.
                        Unfortunately I lost my aux input. I need to modify this one.
