    Advice on audio system

I just bought this Alpine 7284m head unit and Alpine 3311 EQ for my convertible e30. I was wondering if anyone had any advice on an amp? I was thinking about going with an old school amp but I'm not sure if thats the smart thing to do. For speakers I was looking at Alpine SPR-50 speakers. Any advice on these? and what do you guys recommend for an amplifier?

Any advice would be great. Thank you ...

This. Then send him a PM asking questions. He's a good guy and willing to help as long as you GET OFF HIS LAWN!

Luke (StereoInstaller1) did the install in my wife's vert. He hates Alpine head units ... so he'll tell you to get a head unit of your choice with as many pre-amp outputs as you can. He installed a 8" vert box plus a soundstream amp in her car ... plus I had him upgrade the mids and tweets using E34 components and install a local PCN set up (crossovers). It sounds amazing.

You can do tons with the set ups he recommends and the stock speaker wire.

Well Im not quite sure what his beef w alpine is but the unit I purchased was a high end unit in 88. I think it was about 700$ back then. I loved it when I had it in my Alfa Romeo Milano so I'm not quite sure what his beef is with Alpine but ok.
I will not be changing the head unit or EQ as I am 100000% going w Alpine. As far as the speakers go if anyone has any opinion on them and/or what amp I should couple this with would be fantastic help. Thanks again for all the Replies

btw I have contacted him but I have only gotten input on a box. I will get to that later right now my main concern is the horrendous speakers in the car and an amp to go w it

my gripe with alpines is this.... Every single one I ever had died. I do not know why, as did my close friends. We were both car audio installers and in the field for a few years. They get great initial reviews, but from what I saw, they all died. My friend loved them just the same. I gave them up. It comes down to what you like really.

ok so i had an old box laying around so i put 2 brand new 12" Pioneer Competion pros w an old school fosgate amp thats pushing a legit 1000 + rms .... I can 100000000000000% guarantee that adding something like this without cutting and molesting your whole vehicle SOUNDS SIMPLY AMAZING !!!! there is NO RATTLES what so ever the bass just hits so hard its amazing. I have the amp turned down to 3 and almost all the levels on the eq are turned all the way down. IT simply sounds amazing . I cannot stress this enough. With powerful enough equipment the bass seems like it can travel through mountains. I challenge anyone who doubts me to do as i did. i added 4 alpine spr50 speakers powered by a 4 channel Alpine amp pushing 90rms per channel to all 4 speakers. the alpine tweeters are being powered by the alpine head unit and then we have the aforementioned sub set up.
I have completely lost my trunk now . Yes this is true. But who da hell buys an e30 vert for the trunk space? If you guys want pics i will post them . The job hasn't been totally finished as the trunk needs to be cleaned up . but holy shit what a difference in sound compared to bone stock and now w the additional sub setup . WOW !!!! and not a rattle anywhere !!!!! this car is friggin rock solid . either that or i truly found a pretty clean model

"No rattles" is very relative. There is no way shoving two 12s in the trunk produced no rattles IMO. Just not gonna happen.

But as long as you are happy, that's all that matters.

The only thing I notice a little was the convertible boot and a little bit of commercial grade grease on the hinges shut that right down. Like I said I have no reason to lie I'll send you pics if you like . You would have to hear it to believe it. From what I started with to what it sounds like now is simply woeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

My wife drives a 88 vert and has the lukebox /Passive Crossovers from GAS. She needs a trunk for stuff she doesn't want snatched out of her car.

I think the idea of a trunk full of stereo equipment is silly. I mean, it takes away from the designated spot for your stuff when travelling, etc. Each to their own though. OP - cheers if you found the beats you are looking for ...
