Thoughts on the RF 400a4 amp. It's an older 4 channel amp.

400 watts is fine for components and a sub, maybe even too much. If your sub wants a little more power, just build the box bigger so it becomes more efficient.
Hearing music outside your car has more to do with your concentration on removing cancellations and vibrating panels occuring in your car.I retired my E30 for now...

BTW, I rarely crank the music up so loud that people can hear it outside.
there are so many chinese made amps of equal or better quality for not too much more money.
I personally wouldn't pay more than $100CDN for that.

If you're looking for an amp I have an Eclipse 3620. It'd be great for a set of components or a subwoofer (not both). It's an older 2 channel I bought new, used for 2 months, and stuck in my closet in favor of a 150x2 Phoenix Gold XS4300 to feed some power-hungry components. It's rated 40x2 at 4 ohm stereo or 60x2/120x1 at 2 ohm stereo/4 ohm mono. Of course, it's a high current amp and it's definitely doing more than 40x2. I'd wager more like high 50s. It's got a lovely Japanese-built warm sound to it, and sounds super smooth with little to no equalization required.
Just let me know if you're interested. eBay account is dsc6072 if you're curious about my rep.I retired my E30 for now...
