Thoughts on the RF 400a4 amp. It's an older 4 channel amp.

What kind of thoughts? Ugly as they were, they were about the last of the decent Fuzzgates.

If you decide to use the onboard crossovers, I can help you make any frequency you might want.

I ran a 400A4 as power on my front stage for a minute in my Nova...not too shabby.

Are they decent enough to run some components up front and a small sub in the trunk. Havn't decided on the parts but a guy locally is selling the amp for $165 cdn, maybe I can talk him down to $150.

BTW, I rarely crank the music up so loud that people can hear it outside.

400 watts is fine for components and a sub, maybe even too much. If your sub wants a little more power, just build the box bigger so it becomes more efficient.

Hearing music outside your car has more to do with your concentration on removing cancellations and vibrating panels occuring in your car.

Decent enough, sure. I would just consider the reliability of a 5 year old amp...especially one of that particular era of Fosgate.

there are so many chinese made amps of equal or better quality for not too much more money.

I personally wouldn't pay more than $100CDN for that.

If you're looking for an amp I have an Eclipse 3620. It'd be great for a set of components or a subwoofer (not both). It's an older 2 channel I bought new, used for 2 months, and stuck in my closet in favor of a 150x2 Phoenix Gold XS4300 to feed some power-hungry components. It's rated 40x2 at 4 ohm stereo or 60x2/120x1 at 2 ohm stereo/4 ohm mono. Of course, it's a high current amp and it's definitely doing more than 40x2. I'd wager more like high 50s. It's got a lovely Japanese-built warm sound to it, and sounds super smooth with little to no equalization required.
