    Nakamichi Dealer? Me?

Hey guys, Nak is hurting for dealers here. Nearest is over 100 miles away, so the rep seems to think I could become a dealer.

Here is the catch: I have to have a $3500 buy in.

    I don't have a spare $3500.

    I barely have a spare $350.

PM me with the word "Nak" in the title if you think you might want to join in the fracas. Look at their web page, research pricing, etc.

If you aren't gonna have the dough when this happens (if it happens) don't waste my time. Be real. If I can find 15 truly comitted people who want even a CD-350 we might be able to proceed.

If you want to know prices, hit the web. Anyone involved will be in at about 15% over my cost, plus shipping to me and to you, plus a $5.00 handling fee.

I have not seen a price sheet, nor do I have any facts. Just my reputation from back in the day when I was a big shot in San Diego...15 years ago.

This will not happen soon (60 days?), so if your deck is crapping out and can't wait...sorry.

Otherwise, you might have a shot at buying some of the best gear on the planet at a serious discount, from an authorized dealer.

    Maybe.

    Luke

Would you suggest Nak over Memphis in regards to what we've discussed thus far? Are they asking for $3500 YOUR cost, or $3500 RETAIL cost?

    TIA,
    Chris

I personally think the Nak stuff is better in most regards, but I bet for the average listener memphis is better for the money.

Of course Memphis does not make head units.

      And the $3500 is wholesale.

If only it were Denon instead. ;)

Meh, I dunno, my Eclipse head unit got ripped off (go figure, stupid fucking thieves) and I'm quite sick of people having some magnetic force pulling them to steal even the slightest flash. I'm waiting for my ESN claim to go through, and I'd love to sell mine if I could get something like a Nak in return.

Eclipse no longer offers theft replacement warranties as of February. Fuck them. That company is heading for a serious downward spiral. First they start doing that China-made shit, now this. Looks like the only stuff worth buying anymore in my eyes is Nak, Denon, and McIntosh.

        I'm definitely interested :)

                Luke-

I have always been interested in Nakamichi head units, but have always heard of reliability issues. What is your take on this-has it improved?

I have had my Nak CD-400 for a little over 3.5 years now... and it still plays great. The reliability issues circled around the CD-35z and CD-45z. The CD-400 was done up quite well, with color changing LEDs (The orange matches up quite well, but not perfectly). There is a CD-500 out now to replace the 400 Im guessing, I kinda wish I had that one because it has MP3 support. But I could care less these days because I have my personal MP3 player plugged up via AUX input.
