    These any good?

I'm putting a 6.5" Infinity Reference component set in our kit car. They will be running off just the head unit that is an older Blaupunkt unit that only puts out 35W RMS per channel. I'm thinking we may want an amplifier since the deck output is so low. Not looking to spend much though. How does the amp I listed fare? Are they complete garbage, or will they work decent enough? Not looking for tons of power, just enough volume to overpower the wind noise (it's a convertible).

If I got an amp, could I run a 2 channel into the crossovers that came with the components and then run the speakers from there?

Is the 90W rating on these speakers for both, or are they talking about just the 6.5? Would the amp I listed be too much for the speakers?

    TIA

Ok, that's awfully cheap for an amplifier, so it may A) sound horrible B) not have the power rating it's showing.

The 90W rating is for both the woofers and the tweeters (although a tweeter wont use it).

I don't know if your headunit your using has RCA outputs or if you'll have to use speaker level inputs, but either way you'll run two sets of inputs from the headunit into the amplifier and then run the two sets of amplifier outputs to each of the crossovers; then from there you'll hook up the tweeter and woofer to the crossover.

As far as it being too much power, no worries. There is a gain control on the amplifier that will help you with this. The wattage will increase with volume as well, so you will need to go very loud to overpower them.

As far as them not being very good, I figure for $30 or so, I'll take the chance. I just wanted to see if anyone had used them before.

The HU has one set of RCA outputs, L and R.

When you say two sets, you mean one left(two wires) and one right(two wires), correct?

As far as amps go, I'd be willing to shell out up to around $50 or so. Otherwise, I'll just run without. So what's good in that price range in a 2-channel amp? Used stuff is an option.

Ok, from the head unit, you'll have to run one set of RCA's to the amp; then use a splitter on each of the two connections to hook up both channels on the amplifier. Then you'll run a set of wires to each crossover from the amp (and yeah, that's what I meant). Can't help you on picking out an amp though, I just use amps from work.

Why would I need splitters? 2 RCA's (4 wires) running from the HU to the amp. Then 4 wires running from the amp to the 2 crossovers, two wires to each crossover. Then 4 wires each from the crossovers to the speakers. No splitters required.
