Gauges going haywire after battery replacement

Can anyone shed some light on my issue?

Symptoms: Tachometer is "skippy," Econometer goes haywire on startup and then gets stuck, and temp gauge appears inaccurate. Other gauges normal.

Background: I felt my battery was on the decline after a cold start one morning that resulted in lights flickering and stereo going out, tested it at about 11V so I went ahead with replacement, Interstate MTP-48/H6. I also knew previous battery was about 42 months old. As I was leaving battery store, I realized the gauge issues. Figured I might drive it before returning. I've driven it about 25 miles through a couple startup cycles and nothing has really changed. The temp gauge now acts more normal in that it registers cold and appears to increase with engine temp, it still is a little shakey though.

What I've checked: I've looked at all the fuses that send power to cluster and they all looked good. I've even swapped some around to make sure they are functioning. I also double checked my negative battery cable ground, passed basic visual and tug test. Checked voltage at battery at idle, was fluctuating in the 13.7 - 13.8V range. Everything worked fine before switching battery. Previous battery was a smaller NAPA unit; Interstate guys claim I have the correct battery even though their own site suggests a MTP-91/T6. They claim only difference between the one they sold me is physical height.

Entire cluster is only 2 years out from Bavarian Resto overhaul with new SI batteries.

UPDATE: And on the morning of March 15th the Bavarian electrical gods smiled down, granting my gauges permission to work correctly again. Do they normally take that long to reset...?
