So I found this bit of kit called the MiniDSP. It's super cheap($100). and so amazingly flexible. I was planning on buying one and integrating into a headless unit, but honestly I ran out of time - as I have other things to work on. So I hope others might give it a go.
It's a two channel input DSP with 4 ch out that you can then daisy chain/stack if you need more. You can set crossover points eq, and even do a "room sound " eq, and transfer that map to the eq to get flat response before eq'ing furthers.
I honestly think this is the most amazing flexible DSP at less then $1000 price I've seen. FYI - I come from a professional large venue sound background, where EQ and normalizing a room is one of the best trick you can do before a larger show before the band hits the stage. This kit, you can even get a $75 calibrated microphone, and EQ your car to perfection. And they make it so easy.
I'll leave you with this link for more info: http://www.diymobileaudio.com/forum/...ternative.html

The software lets you adjust every thing.
