    No power to speakers

I looked for a thread and couldn't find anything.

I managed to get my head unit working, I had everything wired together correctly and it didn't work, I had to wire the accessories (red) and the constant (yellow) together to get the radio to turn on. (Someone tell me if this is bad) Now that the head unit is working the speakers don't. They don't make any noise at all, when I bought the car their was no radio so not sure if they were ever working. I used a multimeter and getting no reading from the speaker wires. Fuse is good.
    Thanks

Issues with the deck? Or issues with the install.

If I was in your shoes, I'd try to find a friend to lend you a hand, and teach you a few troubleshooting tips.

There's not enough info in your post to really say what the issue is.

                No power to speakers

Unhook all the speaker wires, pick one speaker and run a fresh pair to them. This will test your deck as well as the speakers. Just need to use 1 fresh line and go between all the speakers. Potentially you have a wire grounding out and causing no signal to reach the speakers or your amp is dead.

The factory amp wasn't in the car if that helps. I will buy a new deck to see if that might be the issue as well

                    What year/model is your car?

Your speaker wiring looks ok, but the power wiring is funky. The red/green and the cooler should not be connected like that. One should go to red on the deck, the other to yellow (can't remember which off the top of my head)

Also, buy a pair of crimpers and crimp all those connections. Twisting and tape is just asking for bad connections later. Channellock makes a great pair for $20 that you can get at home depot or Lowe's.

I've got a 1990 325i premium sound. I had to wire them like that to get the radio to turn on, when I wired them the "correct way" the radio wouldn't turn on.

You probably had them backwards. Red/Green should go to Yellow and Violet should go to Red. Key has to be on to make the radio come on.

You say you have premium sound, but that there is no amp. Has the amp been bypassed or just unhooked? Do you have a fader in the dash?

Where the fader should be the piece is missing and I'm unsure if it's been bypassed, all I can tell is that it's been removed I don't see any cables but back there or anything like that

It looks like the twisted blue/yellow pairs are what used to go to the fader, which if true, means they are hooked up correctly.

Check the trunk near the antenna and see if the amp has been bypassed. If it hasn't, then no sound will get to the speakers. You have to jumper the wires to get sound through if the amp is no longer there.

Sorry I have no clue what it means to jump the wires. .__. How do I by pass the amp? I only see DIY saying how to plug up the head unit, nothing any anything about going to the trunk or anything like that
