Removing CD player, but need Volume and ??

I have two cars, both are at the point now where the Cd is going away for two reasons, I mainly do Sat radio or Mp3 and require some more engine monitoring (guages).

Here is what I am looking for on the Dash:

    Volume control Knob
    Led to confim signal input
Rca input jack or possible 1/8" stereo will be used for jacking in MP3 or Sat radio.

Here is what I currently have in Car #1
JVC cd unit with F,R and Sub out
PPI 6 channel with X-over Art series
    JL sub
Old (real) MB Quart Q series
Here is what I currently have in Car #2
    Factory OLD school CD
    JBL 6 channel QTX
    JL sub
Old (real( MB Quart Q series

So I need left/right line level input and F,R and Sub out. Sub level control hidden under the dash as an added benifit.

Any suggestions on making a good sounding solution, I have a good budget to spend, If audi control I can buy direct.

    Any advice really appreciated.

Tyler, the Audiocontrol Three.1 has only a single input, but F+R+S outputs. Amazing performance, 9.5VRMS outputs! Sub level on the front panel too.

If you want multiple inputs, the Four.1 has 2 inputs, but no sub out, just F+R. I am using that with the 6XS croissover, which has dash mount sub level.

You can always wire up a 4PDT relay to have an aux in.

    L8R,
    Luke

What about volume for F and R as the Sat radio box and Mp3 I have are fixed levels at the current. Trying to hide everthing except a knob.

Those things are DAMN cool. I might have to get one of these for my MG and go with a "stealth" look instead of a modern CD player in an old car.

Yeah, I wish mine were in. Oh well, the project is endless.

I would rather have a $100 deck and one of these than any (I mean ANY!) $900 deck.

They're cheap too! For a cheap deck and a three.1 it would be under $400.

Either of you try the JL cleansweep.

Ty, the Cleansweep is meant for adding amps and subs to a stock deck. Their goal is to have no visible deck at all. CS won't do bean for them.

BTW, AudioControl makes a better version than JL.

So is there no way to do this? Do you have to use the three.1 with an amp?

Someone makes a "Universal Volume Control" that would solve this.

You could also mount the Three.1 under the back seat, but remove the volume potentiometer and mount it in the dash, with the knob...with the illumination ring, too!

As far as I am concerned, volume and sub level are the only controls I need.

Ok, so say I dont need sub level control or fade.

                          What about this?

Could I do a setup like this?

ipod -> volume control -> 4 channel amp -> speakers

                          That would be sick.

Yes, except your levels would be insanely low. You would want a line amp before that control. For example, http://www.pac-audio.com/products/pr...%20Accessories
Turbo 1 is the one to look at.

The only other issue would be the detent in the center of travel on that controller.
