How are these speakers? They get some good reviews on crutchfield.com.

Most Blau products are of good quality for the price you pay but they are not exactly top of the line though I swear on Blaupunkt headunits. They are absolute tanks. HST is rolling around in his E36 325i with a Blau headunit I bought almost 8 years ago and it's still as good as the day I bought it.Originally posted by MikesJo View Post

I have used many sets of speakers trying to perfect the system in my E30. I've used Diamond S500 and 600's, Boston Pro's, JL XR Components, and other cheaper lines. I purchased the Blaupunkt Velocity 540 and 640's before they were on closeout. I love my Blaupunkt head unit, as well as any other Blaupunkt product I have ever used. I decided to give the speakers a shot, and I have yet to be dissapointed. The carbon cones are top notch, and the full 1" silk tweeters are crystal clear with out any of the harshness of metal cone tweeters. The best part though is how loud they can play without the slightest bit of distortion. The woofers pound hard and smooth, while the tweets never give up. I have been pushing them at 75w RMS, and they have a peak at 100w RMS.
Don't get me wrong by me saying I have had tons of other speakers. They are all very good as well, all accelling in their own rights. For the price point though, the Blaupunkts are everything I wanted. I currently have an entire Blaupunkt system minus my sub.

I am in the process of redoing some of the system though. I am building a new box with an integrated amp rack, and I am going to port it this time. My setup now looks like a hodgepodge in the back; i.e. very unprofessional. I want to end up having a very clean, OEM-ish looking install. I am also seeking alternatives to the alternator as I dim with the headlights on now, and I plan on installing HID's. The list grows longer each day.

PS - I am a 100% SQ over SPL guy. I am always amazed though when I find quality speakers that can do SQ at SPL levels. My system is designed for SQ, not SPL.
PSS - I ordered all my Blaupunkt parts through MidWest Electonics and have been 100% satisfied. All orders show up well before I think they should.Comment
